Looking Ahead...
Join us for the next skating party fundraiser on December 5! important Winter weather reminder
WINTER WEATHER With winter weather approaching, we're making sure we're prepared to keep our families and scholars safe. We have information on winter clothing, recess, cancellations, Academy communication, extended care and evening activities. DROP OFF/PICK UP Mr. Lehr and Mr. Willie do their very best to get the sidewalks cleared so scholars may enter the building safely. There may, however, be slick spots. Remind your children at drop off to exit the car carefully and watch where they are walking to avoid slipping. Teachers will remind scholars to walk as they exit the building. ***8th Graders will not be required to be outside during the entire duration of drop-off but there will always be an adult outside to help. CLOTHING Please make sure your children come to school dressed for the weather, with winter coats, hats and gloves when necessary. RECESS When the scholars arrive at school, we'll keep them inside. We make sure to keep them indoors for recesses and physical education classes when temperatures or wind chill are 32 degrees or below and the playground is not cleared of snow and ice. We will continue to monitor the temperatures and wind chill index in case we need to make any further adjustments. CANCELLATIONS Although it is important that scholars be in school, safety is the most important concern of all. If snow, ice or extreme cold make conditions unsafe, we will cancel school. Notification of school closure will be sent out either the night before or the morning of before 6:00 AM. If you do not feel safe transporting your child to school, please notify the school office. There are built in days for inclement weather closings. If needed, though, we will make up the first snow day on Holy Thursday, April 9, 2020. If needed, we will make up the next snow day on May 21, 2020. COMMUNICATION If we cancel school, we will get you that information through text alerts, email, our website, Facebook, Twitter and the local media. We are listed as St. Charles Borromeo Academy on the TV stations. CHILD CARE AND DISTRICT PROGRAMS If we cancel school, the extended care program and early childhood programs are also closed. Evening athletic practices, games and meetings are also cancelled. Picture re-takes
Picture re-takes will be on Tuesday, November 26. This is a Mass day- dress uniform is encouraged but not required. We will also be taking an all school picture this day. yankee candle fundraiser results

Free Puppies!
Benjamin Darnell, Director of Faith Formation in the Parish Office, has a litter of puppies he is giving away! If you are interested contact him at bdarnell@stcharleskc.com.
The Darnell's have adorable puppies that will be ready for their forever home around December 7. These would be a perfect gift for Christmas! They are mixed breed puppies with some Lab in them. The mom is around 50 lbs, so they will be an intermediate size dog. These puppies will be well handled and socialized. The Darnell's are working to make them very used to being handled by young children. There are six remaining in the litter. Please contact Benjamin if you are interested in more information or in going to see them in Gladstone. Attached are some pictures. Please feel free to share with anyone you know who may be interested!
